Dubuque Police arrested a Wisconsin man for allegedly withdrawing nearly 38-thousand dollars from the account of his mother who lives at a care facility in Dubuque and is suffering from dementia.
Police say 58-year old Kenneth Klaas of Sun Prairie is being charged with first-degree theft, financial exploitation of an older individual-over $10-thousand dollars and dependent adult abuse-financial exploitation by a caretaker.
The investigation started in October 2023 when Klaas’s brother called authorities to tell them he believed the money was being taken without his mother’s knowledge. Police say they identified several drawn from the account with several having “loan” written in the memo line.
