A Platteville man was arrested following a hit-and-run accident where he reportedly hit a bicyclist with his SUV seriously injuring the rider.
The Grant County Sheriff says it happened Saturday morning around 10:45 on County Road ‘A’, just east of Highway 129 near Lancaster.
Authorities say 54-year old John Goomey is charged with running over the biker and then drove off. Goomey was eventually located and was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Injury, and Hit and Run Causing Great Bodily Harm.
The bicyclist whose name wasn’t released was first taken to Grant Regional Health Center and then was airlifted to U-W Hospitals in Madison.
