2 Children Found Injured In Backyard Following Vehicle Crash

A Dubuque man was arrested yesterday for an incident last week where two young children were injured and left in a back yard.

Last Wednesday police were called to a 2 vehicle accident at the intersection of University and Irving. When officers arrived they were told following the collision, the man driving on of the vehicles, grabbed two small children and ran away.  The children ages 7 and 8 were later found abandoned in the back yard of a home in the 15-hundred block of Auburn Street. Both children were injured and taken to Mercy Hospital. One of the children had to be taken to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City to be treated for a fractured skull.

Chester is still being held in the Dubuque County Jail.
