Body Found In Mississippi River In Clayton County Identified

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Department says the body of a man found in the Mississippi River on Saturday has been identified.

Authorities say he is 41-year-old Neven Soknic who was reported missing on July 9th by authorities in Waterloo. Soknic’s body was discovered in the Mississippi by fisherman north of the Cassville ferry landing. Last Wednesday, authorities discovered Soknic’s abandoned vehicle near the Turkey River Mounds State Preserve in rural Guttenberg.

Authorities say foul play is not suspected at this time. The investigation is continuing.
