Yesterday the National Weather Service says tornadoes did touch down during Friday’s severe weather event in the area.
Following a survey of damage, the weather service says an EF-2 rated tornado with peak winds of 120 miles per hour were verified near LaMotte and an EF-1 rated tornado with peak winds of 95 miles per hour ripped through Bernard. Several buildings were damaged and trees knocked down in both area.
Two other tornadoes, rated EF-1 in strength were also confirmed to have touched down in northern Jones County causing significant tree damage and some roof damage.
