DUBUQUE, Iowa (KCRG) -New Horizon Academy’s Daycare Center in Dubuque held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday.
The two-story facility officially opened last month, and is located on the Cottingham and Butler campus in downtown Dubuque. It features over a dozen classrooms, multiple motor skills rooms, and playgrounds for each age group. The center also has the ability to serve 202 children at a time.
Iowa Child Care Resource & Referral reports nearly 16,000 children 12 years and younger reside in Dubuque County, but the area child care centers only have space for 6,358 children.
The Academy’s Director, Christina Berger, says the new daycare is a step toward addressing the childcare shortage in Dubuque County.
