STATE BASEBALL
Yesterday at the State Baseball Tournament in Carroll: the Cascade Cougars had their season end in the state quarterfinals falling to top seeded Underwood 3-0. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 5th when Underwood scored all three runs. Cascade finished their season with a record of 23-13.
Wahlert Baseball Back In Action Today
Following a 3-1 victory over Boone on Monday in the quarterfinals, the Wahlert Golden Eagles have a semi final date this evening in Sioux City.
Top ranked Wahlert now 37-and-6 on the season and will play against the 8th ranked Saydel Eagles (29-7) who defeated Davenport Assumption in their quarterfinal game.
Game time is at 5 o’clock and pregame on AM 1370 and radiodubuque.com will be at 4:45. The winner plays Friday afternoon in the 3A state title game against the winner of the other semifinal this evening between 2nd ranked Pella and 6th ranked Sioux City Bishop Heelan.
STATE SOFTBALL
In the Class 2A quarterfinals 11th ranked Cascade lost to third ranked West Lyon 10-8. The Cougars now 20-and-10 will meet #15 West Monona this afternoon in a consolation game
In a 4A consolation game yesterday, 9th ranked Western Dubuque lost to 2nd ranked Norwalk 10-9 to finish the season 31-13.
Today at the State Softball Tournament:
Following their 1-0 victory over Center Point-Urbana Monday night in the 3A quarterfinals, the top ranked (35-7) Wahlert Golden Eagles will face #4 seed and 6th ranked (26-4) PCM this afternoon at 2:30. The winner advances to the state championship game on Friday afternoon against the winner of the other semifinal game between 2nd ranked Williamsburg and 5th ranked Albia.
