The University of Iowa President addressed a video that shows one of her employees admitting to “operating around” a state law regarding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Dr. Barbara Wilson was one of many at Wednesday’s Board of Regents Meeting condemning the employee’s words that Fox News posted Tuesday night. Attorney General Brenna Bird launched an investigation Wednesday after Governor Reynolds sent an official complaint. The board gave its full support to the Attorney General’s investigation and said they would take action to correct this “very problematic situation”. Dr. Wilson went on to say faith in the institution relies on unwavering commitment to following state and federal laws saying If at any point policies or laws are violated, the necessary corrective actions will be taken without hesitation. The Board of Regents is planning a special meeting next month to further address its policy regarding DEI.
