UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital’s new Computed Tomography (CT) scanner went live this week. This new scanner combines intelligent imaging technology with a patient-centered design, offering enhanced comfort and improved image quality.The Siemens X.Cite features a wider bore, a camera to help technologists monitor the patient throughout the process and a tablet-based system that allows technologist to stay close to the patient to enhance communication. CT scanners use X-rays and computer technology to create detailed cross sections of the body, showing bones, organs and soft tissues. When the different images are combined, it creates a 3-D image, allowing providers to see much more detail than a standard X-ray.
