“Mowing to Monarchs” Accepting New Applicants

Dubuque County Conservation

Dubuque County Conservation is now inviting local landowners to apply for participation in its growing Mowing to Monarchs program, which helps residents transform traditional lawns into native pollinator habitats known as pocket prairies or prairie meadows.

Launched in 2020, Mowing to Monarchs has already supported nearly 500 pollinator projects across the county. The program offers a preselected mix of native pollinator plants or seeds, educational support from Dubuque County Conservation staff and Iowa State University Extension Master Gardeners and access to workshops, planting guides, private coaching, and funding.

Dubuque County residents interested in joining can learn more and apply thru August 26th
