With school beginning next week for many students area drivers need to elevate their road awareness. Brian Ortner of Triple-A Iowa says school zone safety is as simple as A-B-C.
Ortner again urges drivers to put the phone down and drive.
Ortner adds distracted walking can be just as dangerous as distracted driving. He says parents should discourage students from wearing earbuds or looking down at digital devices while standing at the bus stop or walking near traffic.
