Man Convicted Of Human Trafficking Dubuque Teen Sentenced To Life In Prison

GAVEL COURT

A Cedar Rapids area man found guilty of human trafficking a Dubuque teenage girl last year will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Jarrod Anderson heard his sentence Wednesday in Linn County District Court.  He becomes the first person in Iowa sentenced for this crime since a state law increased the penalty for human trafficking to life in prison.

In May 2024 Anderson and Tana Torres picked up the teen in Dubuque, brought her to a Cedar Rapids hotel, and during a span of two days, sold her for sex to various men. The teen escaped and told police.   Torres had a human trafficking charged dismissed, but was sentenced to two years in jail.
