For the second straight week, Dubuque native Kyle Konrardy has been named the Big 12 conference Special Teams Player of the Week. The sophomore Iowa State kicker hit a 54-yard game-winning field goal to put Iowa State in front of rival Iowa, 16-13, with 1:52 remaining in the final quarter. Konrardy nailed two other field goals and an extra point in the Cyclone victory.

Cyclone teammate defensive lineman Tamatoa McDonough was selected as Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. The Yale transfer sacked Hawkeye quarterback Mark Gronowski on back-to-back plays to help seal the win for ISU. He had five total tackles on the day.
