Report: R.T.A. Bus Service in Jeopardy

Coverage partner KCRG reports how thousands of people get to work and school in the area may be in jeopardy due to a growing funding shortfall.

Iowa’s Region 8 Regional Transit Authority (RTA), which offers rides to residents in Delaware, Dubuque, and Jackson Counties, estimates it will face a $142-thousand dollar budget deficit in fiscal year 2026, growing to $311-thousand by 2028.

The R.TA is requesting $50-thosand dollars from Dubuque County and $25-thousand from Delaware and Jackson counties to help continue operations.
