A former Galena Police officer has entered a plea of guilty to possessing child pornography material.
Late last week 23-year old Eli Barthel of Freeport entered the plea to one of the three charges he faced in Stevenson County Circuit Court. In exchange for the guilty plea, the two other charges were dismissed and a sentencing date of October 1st was set.
Barthel was arrested in June following an investigation which included the FBI and his employment with the Galena Police Department was immediately terminated.
