City Council Identifies Top Priorities For 2026

CITY OF DUBUQUE

Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh says keeping and expanding air service at Dubuque Regional Airport will be the top priority for the coming year.

The mayor made his comments during his State of the City speech last week.

Cavanaugh also said developing a sports complex has been identified as one of the top priorities by the Dubuque City Council.

A recent study done by the Dubuque Racing Association found a sports complex could create more than 1,000 jobs and generate at least $20 million dollars in annual revenue for local businesses.

The same survey of over 2000 people showed 81percent thought Dubuque’s current sports facilities are insufficient, and 36 percent said they leave the region for suitable facilities for training practices and league play.
