Dubuque Council Approves Funding Air Service Minimum Revenue Guarantee

Following lengthy public input and council discussion, last night the Dubuque City Council voted 6-1 to dedicate as much as $2.4 million dollars in to a Minimum Revenue Guarantee for Denver Air Connections to continue commercial air service at the Dubuque Regional Airport.  Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh:

 

 

At Large Councilman Ric Jones says he believes it’s the right thing to do.

 

 

The lone no vote came from Councilman Danny Sprank.

 

 

The mayor and council members agreed if Dubuque is unable to reach the 80% ridership threshold by the spring, the community needs to demand the U.S. Department of Transportation admit the city into the Essential Air Service (EAS) program, which receive grant money for air service.
