A Benton man is in custody after an armed standoff. The Lafayette County Sheriff says shortly before 8 o’clock last night they were called to the area of State Highway 11- Main Street and Temple Avenue and Galena Streets in Benton on the report of an armed man.
Authorities say the man identified as 37-year old Anthony Lucey went inside his home on Galena Street when they arrived and he refused to come out causing the standoff with officers from several area departments. Several surrounding homes had to be evacuated.
Around 2:45 this morning Lucey was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported. He is being held in the Layfayette County Jail.
