A southwest Wisconsin police chief who will be retiring next year has been honored as the 49th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year.
Platteville Police Chief Doug McKinley received the recognition this week at the Wisconsin State Capitol during a First Responder Appreciation Day ceremony during the Assembly floor session on Tuesday.
McKinley was selected by Representative Travis Tranel of Cuba City. McKinley has served in law enforcement the last 35 years with the last 20 as Platteville Police Chief. He has announced he will be retiring this April.
