A Dubuque man faces charges after seriously injuring another man in an assault near downtown Dubuque.

Dubuque Police say 36-year old Christopher Wall was arrested Thursday night after the incident in the 300 block of Kaufmann Avenue.

Police say it all started when a vehicle driven by 37-year old Clarence Brooks went out of control and struck a parked vehicle. Wall helped Brooks out of his vehicle, then the two exchanged words. Wall is then accused of punching Brooks who fell backward and hit his head on the curb. He was first taken to the hospital in Dubuque and then was airlifted to University Hospital in Iowa City with a brain bleed.
