A Maquoketa man will serve prison time for a home break-in where he strangled a woman and then was shot by the woman.
25-year old Mitchell Hankemeir will serve 15-years in prison after pleading guilty last week in Jackson County District Court.
Hankemeier was arrested after the incident in April after being taken to University Hospital in Iowa City for treatment of gunshot wounds. The woman he strangled suffered bruising and abrasions to her neck.
