A competency hearing for the southwest Wisconsin man accused in the stabbing death of a Dodgeville woman has determined he isn’t competent to stand trial at this time.
On Friday the judge hearing the case in Iowa County ruled 23-year old Gavin Thompson lacks competency but that he will likely regain competency. According to court records another hearing will be held at a later date when needed.
Thompson was arrested July 16th in Lincoln, Nebraska following a pursuit and then massive manhunt. The body of Dorinda Segebrecht was found in the back seat of her vehicle which Thompson is accused of driving from Dodgeville and abandoning during the police chase.
