Iowa’s Hands Free Driving Law Results in Fines Starting January 1

Hands Free Driving

When the New Year begins Iowa’s Hand Free Driving Law will go from just receiving a warning to getting a citation and being fined.

Dubuque Police Information Officer Luke Bock.

Bock says the picking up a phone or device while behind the wheel might require you to do something intentional to break that bad habit.

He says if your vehicle doesn’t already come equipped with technology to keep your hands free, there are several options.

The fine for being ticketed for disobeying the law plus court costs is $170 dollars.
