Galena Man Receives Federal Sentence For Illegal Gun Possession

GAVEL COURT

A Galena man was sentenced to federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon.

In July, 37-year-old Brandon Hentz pled guilty to one count of possession of a firearm as a felon. This week Hentz was sentenced to more than four years in federal prison and a three-year supervised release.

Hentz was stopped by a Dubuque Police officer for a traffic violation and police say they found pills, marijuana, and a loaded gun in the vehicle.

Hentz was banned from having firearms based on two previous felony convictions.
