A LaMotte man has received a federal prison sentence after pleading guilty to sending multiple threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend and possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle and silencer.

Yesterday in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids 34-year old Steven Conroy was ordered to serve a five year prison sentence.

Conroy admitted following a child support hearing in July 2024 he sent threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend. Following an investigation, he was arrested following a search of his LaMotte home where a number of firearms were seized.
