Galena Plans Parking Facility Downtown and Relocating Police Station

GALENA MAP

Galena is taking steps to relocate the city’s police station and build a parking facility in the downtown area in its place.

The Telegraph Herald reports last month the Galena City Council approved eventually tearing down the aging building on North Main Street with plans to construct a new police station on a recently purchased six acre site on Chetlain Lane.  This would clear the way for the parking facility downtown which could potentially provide up to 50 parking spaces for the heavily visited downtown area.

Galena would share the cost of the facility with Jo Daviess County.
