A second dose of winter weather is forecast for the area later today and then the temperatures will be dropping like a rock this weekend.
After between 3 and 4 inches of snow from a clipper system overnight, strong winds and another inch of snow are possible this evening which could create hazardous travel conditions.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for this evening for blowing snow and reduced visibilities creating near white out conditions in open areas. The advisory has been upgraded to a Blizzard Warning for Jones and Delaware counties in the listening area.
The Weather Service has also issued an Extreme Cold Watch for Thursday night into Saturday Morning. Forecasters warn subzero temps and dangerously cold wind chills as low as 38 below will be possible.
