COLLEGE

Men’s Basketball

  • #6 Iowa State 70. #2 Houston 67

It was vintage Hilton Magic last night in Ames.  #6 Iowa State rallied from a double-digit deficit and outscored No. 2 Houston 17-4 in the final seven minutes in a massive 70-67 victory  in Hilton Coliseum. Nate Heise came to play in one of the biggest games of the season. Heise scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds against the taller Cougars. But it was his outside shooting that saved the day, connecting on all three of his 3-point attempts, none bigger than a bomb from the corner with the shot clock running out that was essentially the game-winner with 1:10 left.

Up Next Iowa State’s schedule doesn’t get any easier, traveling to No. 23 BYU on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball

  • #13 Iowa 80, Nebraska 67

Ava Heiden registered her sixth career double-double with 27 points (12-15 FG) and 11 rebounds.
