A Chicago man has entered a guilty plea to charges he was using a tap to pay device on a phone to steal money after giving people a phony story.
25-year old Amari Jones entered his plea earlier this week in Dubuque County District Court.
Jones was one of three men arrested by Dubuque Police who were accused of soliciting donors outside two Dubuque grocery stores in September claiming their cousin had been shot and needed money to help him.
The men refused cash donations, but wanted to use their phones with a chip reader attached allowing them to access bank accounts to steal thousands of dollars from at least two victims.
