Dubuque drug Dealer Sentenced after 2 Overdose Deaths

GAVEL COURT

A Dubuque man has been sentenced to 37 years in prison after two people in Marion died from drugs he sold them.

34-year old Cody Dittmar was sentenced in federal court in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday. Dittmar was convicted last June on charges of distributing heroin and fentanyl which caused two deaths.

Dittmar was already on federal supervised release for a 2017 gun conviction when he began selling drugs again in 2023.

He and his ex-wife sold a drug mixture to a Marion man who took the drugs with his wife. They both died of overdoses.

Alysha Dittmar, Cody’s ex-wife, pleaded guilty in 2024 and was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison.
