In an effort to resolve future budget troubles, Dubuque Community School leaders have laid out some proposals.
In a work session last night leaders discussed expanding Roosevelt Middle School while closing Jefferson Middle School in the next two years.
School officials will also begin organizing a community planning process to discuss other possible changes to the district’s facilities.
Officials also discussed holding an election this fall to renew the physical plant and equipment levy at an increased rate. The voter-approved levy would double to $1.34 per $1,000 of assessed value, generating $6 million annually.
Setting the special election and closing Jefferson Middle School both still require school board approval.
