A Dubuque woman has been arrested on 2nd degree theft charges after being accused of stealing around $48-hundred dollars in a bank fraud scam.
Police say in March 2025, 23-year old Samantha Washington took the money by setting up a new bank account at a Dubuque bank , making fraudulent external transfers, and then making withdrawals before those external transfers came back as insufficient funds.
Washington is the latest person to be arrested in the case by Dubuque Police in which a total of around $50,000 dollars was reported stolen in the scam
