Iowa Falls in 2OT to Virginia
The Iowa Hawkeye women’s basketball team made a second round exity from the NCAA Tournament yesterday afternoon. 10-seed Virginia defeated 2-seed Iowa in double overtime, 83-75 at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
Ava Heiden led Iowa with 26 points and five rebounds. Senior Hannah Stuelke notched 15 points and a career-high 19 rebounds in her final game as a Hawkeye. Iowa ended the season with a 27-7 record.
Illinois Falls at Vanderbilt
The Illinois Fighting Illini also saw their season end last night in the second round of the tournament. The 7th seeded Illini lost to number two seed Vanderbilt 75-57. Berry Wallace registered a team-high 18 points to lead the Illini.
Illinois finished with a 22-12 record, the program’s third 20-win season under fourth-year head coach Shauna Green.
