Illinois Comes Up Short Against UCONN

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — UConn got another critical 3-pointer from Braylon Mullins and coach Dan Hurley’s Huskies muscled their way back to the national title game, beating Illinois 71-62 in the Final Four on Saturday night as they seek their third championship in four seasons. Tarris Reed Jr. had 17 points and 11 rebounds, while the fabulous freshman Mullins scored 15 for the Huskies.

Illinois was led by Freshman Keaton Wagler who had 20 points and eight rebounds as they finished the season (28-9), playing in their first Final Four since losing the championship game to North Carolina in 2005.

 

USHL Hockey

The Dubuque Fighting Saints put the lid on their regular season with a   7-3 victory over the Muskegon Lumberjacks at ImOn Arena.  Dubuque finished runner up in the Eastern Conference with a 40-18-and-4 record and as the number two seed have a first round bye for the Eastern Conference playoffs

  • Dubuque lost twice at Simpson 3-2 and 4-1
  • UW Platteville split at UW River Falls winning 13-7 and losing 18-12.
