Several communities in the tristate area and other parts of Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois reported damage as a line of tornado-warned storms moved across Eastern Iowa yesterday afternoon into the night time.
The storms not only produced a few tornados on the ground, but also damaging hail and straight line winds. A peak gust of 88 miles per hour was recorded at the Dubuque Regional Airport during a tornado warned storm.
Storm reports to the National Weather Service in the area included downed trees, power poles, and some damage to farm buildings. Baseball to golf ball size hail was also reported in some of the region.
Forecasters say there is a chance of some more severe weather later today and then another more significant chance on Friday.
The Weather Service has also issued a Flood Watch through this evening for the chance of flash flooding due to excessive rainfall.
