Former Hempstead High School football player Anterio Thompson heard his named called
in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.
The Atlanta Falcons took the 6-foot-4, 310-pound defensive lineman with the 208th overall pick in the sixth round.
Thompson, who played last season at Washington University became just the second football player from Hempstead High drafted. Tom Rusk was the first in 1979.
The last Dubuque native to be drafted was Pete McMahon in 2005.
