Dubuque Teen Found Guilty Of Attempted Murder

An 18-year old Dubuque man has been found guilty of attempted murder in an October shooting incident in downtown Dubuque.

Ahamad Atkins Junior was convicted yesterday afternoon by the Dubuque County Jury following the trial which started on Wednesday. Atkins will be sentenced at a later date and faces up to 25 years in prison.

Atkins was arrested in late October following a shooting incident in the area of 17th and Jackson Streets. He was accused of firing a handgun at 18-year old Kareem Sehwail after a fight in the alley. The bullet missed and struck the windshield of a parked vehicle.
