The City of Dubuque is exploring a plan to update its parking meters with new technology.

A plan in development for about five years was submitted to the Dubuque City Council for their review during a work session last night by Transportation Services Director Ryan Knuckey.

The proposal sent to city council would make it easier for payment, mobility and the overall parking experience by replacing city’s 18-hundred parking meters with kiosks and a mobile app.

The estimated cost is wide ranging depending on the vendor and range between $400-thousand dollars to around 1.8 million dollars.
