Forecasters say yesterday’s substantial rains are leading to the Mississippi River rising even higher before leveling out next week.  A Flood Warning remains in effect until further notice.

This morning the river at Dubuque is at 19.4 feet.  Officials now say the Mississippi is predicted to reach a crest of 21.4 feet on Thursday evening which is just below the major flood stage level of 21.5 feet at the Dubuque Railroad Bridge. At 21.5 feet, water affects several homes in the Frentress Lake area on the Illinois side.
