Guatemalan Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Conspiring to Distribute Methamphetamine in Dubuque

A Guatemalan man who conspired to distribute methamphetamine in Dubuque was sentenced yesterday to more than 12 years in federal prison.

30-year old Jose Aceves‑Garcia pled guilty to the charges in November in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. Aceves-Garcia admitted between January 2019 and January 2022, he distributed at least 400 pounds of ice methamphetamine to a co‑conspirator in the Dubuque area.

Aceves-Garcia is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
