Mineral Point Man Arrested Following Threats To Law Enforcement

jail prison sentence arrest

A Mineral Point man is in jail for a weekend incident that included him allegedly threatening to murder a member of the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office.

The Iowa County says 42-year-old Matthew Rohowetz was arrested Sunday evening on several charges including felony charges of Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer and Bail Jumping.

Authorities say the incident started when Rohowetz contacted Iowa County 9-1-1 dispatchers and left profane and threatening messages.

When deputies and Wisconsin State Patrol went to his home in Mineral Point, Rohowetz then ran away and refused orders to stop….a Taser was used, but wasn’t effective. Authorities later found him hiding in a women’s bathroom at a Mineral Point business where he eventually surrendered.
