The Wahlert High School baseball and softball teams came up a little short of being state champions yesterday at the State Baseball Tournament in Sioux City and the State Softball Tournament in Fort Dodge.
The Golden Eagle baseball team saw their season end with a 3-1 loss to Pella. The only hit of the game for Pella happened in the top of the 7th inning a two RBI double with two outs. Wahlert finished with a new program record for wins going 38-and-7.
The Golden Eagle softball teams saw their season end with a 3-2 loss to Williamsburg in the 3A title game. Williamsburg scored the winning run in the top of the 5th inning on a two out RBI single to give the Raiders the lead. The Eagles finished the season 37-8, setting a new program record for wins.
