Wisconsin state assemblyman Travis Tranel of Cuba City is looking for nominations to be considered for this year’s First Responder of the Year Award.
If you know a local southwestern Wisconsin hero you can nominate them through September 19th, the award will be presented during a special ceremony in October at the capital in Madison.
Nominees can include a police officer or sheriff’s deputy, firefighter, or any level of EMS personnel.
You can nominate a deserving person for a variety of reasons including:
- A specific heroic action;
- A significant professional achievement;
- Something special they do for the community during the course of their work;
- Body of work over time; and/or
- Length of service.
One deserving individual will be selected from each Assembly District and invited to the State Capitol in Madison to be formally recognized on the Assembly floor for a special recognition ceremony on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
To have your local hero be eligible, nominations are due to be returned to Rep. Tranel’s office no later than Friday, September 19, 2025. The Nomination Form or the following information can be submitted: name of person nominated, nominee’s position/job title, name of person/group making the nomination, contact information (phone number and email), and a brief description of the candidate to Rep.Tranel@legis.wisconsin.gov.
