A Dubuque man involved in a July accident that injured two children was sentenced to five years of probation and must reside at a residential treatment facility for a year or until maximum benefits are achieved. Court documents say 39 tear old Corlandis D. Chester received the sentence in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to neglect of a dependent person, child endangerment resulting in bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a serious injury. The accident happened July 2 at the intersection of University and Irving. Following the collision, Chester exited his vehicle, grabbed two small children and ran away. The children ages 7 and 8 were later found abandoned in the back yard of a home in the 15-hundred block of Auburn Street. Both children were injured and taken to Mercy Hospital. One of the children had to be taken to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City to be treated for a fractured skull.
