Winter is returning with a vengeance later today. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Dubuque and the Tri-State the area going from this afternoon at 3 o’clock until Monday morning at 9.
Forecasters say mixed precipitation is expected to develop this afternoon before quickly changing over to snow. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected with up to 4 inches possible in northern parts of the listening area. The greatest impacts in Wisconsin are expected to be along and north of I-90 where up to a foot of snow may fall.
In addition, a strong cold front passing through this afternoon and evening will lead to a rapid drop in temperatures from the 40s into the teens which could result in a flash freeze leading to icy roads.
