Coverage partner KCRG report the Dubuque Community School District could close schools as officials work to address a budget crisis that could drain the district’s reserves in three years.
Superintendent Amy Hawkins says all options are on the table as the district prepares for cuts.
Hawkins says the budget crisis stems from two main issues: declining enrollment and state funding that is not keeping up with inflation.
The district plans to release proposals by the end of the school year, followed by extensive public discussion.
