An Oklahoma man and woman will each serve jail time after receiving their sentence on 2023 assault charge in Dubuque.
43-year old Mose Smith and 43-year old Kimberly Gilbert both received five years in prison after each pleading guilty for the incident at Riverview Park in July 2023.
Both Smith and Gilbert were arrested for attacking 43-year old Sara Hines with a crutch causing serious injury and also threatening her with a knife. The couple then drove off to East Dubuque where they were later arrested.
Both Smith and Gilbert also will spend nearly 10 years in federal prison for a voluntary manslaughter case in Oklahoma for the death of a man earlier that July.
Their Dubuque sentence will run consecutively to their sentences in the Oklahoma case.
