Today is a day to be weather aware as most of the tristate area is under the threat of severe weather later today.
The Storm Prediction Center with the National Weather Service says the area is included in the region with an Enhanced Risk or level 3 of 5 chance for all forms of severe weather with damaging wind and tornadoes the primary threats along with large hail. The Weather Service says the storms will likely develop between 2 this afternoon and 8 this evening and will move rapidly leading to less time to react increasing the need to stay aware of the weather.
Forecasters say the chance of severe weather will also be around tomorrow.
