Hundreds of high school students from around the tristate area will be exploring a hand-on career path at the Skilled Trades Fair today and Friday. The event is hosted by the Dubuque Area Labor Management Council in partnership with the Alliance for Construction Excellence and is being held at the Portzen Construction Company.
Some of the rades represented at the expo include ironworking, electrical, painting, auto mechanics, carpentry and sheet metal work.
The more than 400 students will be operating heavy equipment, wiring circuits, experiencing welding and more through at least 18 interactive demonstration stations which include virtual simulators.
