3/8-Clam Chowder From Cremer’s Grocery

I took a break from recipe sharing on “Cookin’ with Kaye” today. Been real busy in the mornings covering sports for Sports Director Tim Lary, who has been covering our area teams at the boys state basketball tournament in Des Moines this week. I’d thought I’d take off this week, but, still wanting to enjoy some food on a Friday morning, I opted to go with one of the fantastic premade frozen soups you can pick up at Cremer’s Grocery on Rhomberg Avenue in Dubuque. In keeping with my goal of no meat on Friday’s in lent, I opted for “Clam Chowder”. I’m a huge fan of New England Clam Chowder. And Cremer’s Grocery carries some oh so good clam chowder. I picked up a 5lb. bag and it was….get this….$12.99. I thawed it, put it in the slow cooker on low for 6 hours, and it turned out so, so good! Rich, creamy and delicious! Plenty of chunks of clam and potatoes and a great blend of spices. The smell was entrancing! I also loaded it up with the “good” oyster cracker, not the cheap, skimpy ones! A nice side salad with this and perhaps some crusty bread, and you in for one heck of a meal! Don’t forget to stock up on your beverage needs at Van’s Liquor Store in East Dubuque. March Maddness, St. Patties day, Easter get togethers….you’ll need plenty of beverages! This was serious good stuff folks. I can’t wait to have it for dinner tonight!
